WHAT IS RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning is a method of assessment that enables candidates to have their current knowledge and skills formally recognised. You may wish to apply for RPL for select units or a whole qualification. Current knowledge and skills may have been acquired through paid employment, life experiences, volunteer work, informal or formal training.

Evidence Gathering Documented evidence to support your RPL claim is imperative and collecting as much evidence as possible will allow iscd to assess your competency in your chosen qualification/units. You need to ensure that all areas are covered and supply supporting evidence to build a portfolio of your skills and experience. Without documented evidence, your RPL application will not be successful, so it is important to link your evidence to the outcomes of the units you have selected. Remember that collecting your evidence can take time; however, we require this evidence to ensure that we can establish your competencies in the relevant areas.

WHAT IS CREDIT TRANSFER AND DOES IT APPLY TO ME?

Credit Transfer is the awarding of competency to a student as a result of their having been awarded competency for that   Unit of Competency (or its equivalent) either with iscd or another Registered Training Organisation within the previous 5 years.

HOW WILL MY APPLICATION BE ASSESSED?

All evidence provided will be verified for authenticity with the provider listed on the Certificate or Transcript of Results.

IS THERE A COST FOR CREDIT TRANSFER?

No, there is no cost. RTO’s are not permitted to charge a fee for Credit Transfer except where an entire qualification   is being credited. Then an administration fee for the issuance of the qualification will be charged.
