    Peejay Svovada

Cinematographer & Editor, Maxed Out Films

    AIT Course Studied:
    Bachelor of Interactive Media (Film)

    Now employed at:
    Maxed Out Films

    Current position:
    Cinematographer & Editor

How did AIT help you achieve success?

AIT helped me gain a lot of skill and knowledge in the film industry. Through my 2016 AIT Oscars win, I gained a membership to the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS). AIT has also appointed me as Director & Videographer for a number of projects such as coverage on Game of Thrones, Alien: Covenant, Mad Max: Fury Road and many more. Through AIT, I will also single-handedly produce a documentary in Kenya - following the students and teachers of the University of Notre Dame Sydney.

    Advice for future AIT students

Try to push yourself and do as much work in your field as you can. Every production or every project you do should teach you something, even if it'll go downhill you can learn from those mistakes. Upon completing projects, you may achieve something that you didn't know you were capable of doing. For aspiring cinematographers, the key is having a great eye. You can learn this by analysing some great films and looking closely at the sort of shots and angles. Do projects with what you've got. You can make an amazing short film with a crappy camera or on your phone, and creatively they may be festival-worthy.
