Animation is a multifaceted field, which can be utilised in numerous industries; film, games, training, development, television production and opportunities for employment are not limited to one area.

Skills such as drawing, compositing, rigging, sculpting, character design, rendering and visual FX are widely sought after by creative media employers in Australia (Stephen 2021).

Globally, the demand for animated overlays in commercials, retro motion graphics in marketing production and detailed, technical training in construction and medicine have provided opportunities for animators to practise their trade in other industries as well (Grand Review research 2021).

Data from the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service predicts strong future growth in animation and visualisation (Australian Government 2021). This is supported by Seek.com, which predicts a 12.9% increase in employment by 2026 (www.seek.com 2021).

The investment, diversification and scope of the animation industry in Australia is set to provide steady employment, and an increased requirement for skilled professionals.
