Carlton

Carlton Zhu

Academic Teacher / Subject Coordinator

Carlton is a senior game lecturer at AIT. Whilst his Masters degree was in Animation, he has worked in the education space, as well as the game development industry for over 10 years. Over the years, he has trained thousands of students at a Higher Education level, helping many graduates enter the games and creative industry, whilst also creatively led an independent game dev team, having worked on and published several mobile games.

Sandra Luu

Academic Teacher

Sandra Luu is an academic teacher at the Academy of Information Technology. For almost a decade, she has been honing her skills in the higher education sector, working extensively in the field of interactive media. She has in-depth experience developing and teaching practical workshops and higher education courses, delivering in face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online environments. Her background as a freelance filmmaker with a specialisation in video editing converges with her passion for teaching at the Academy of Information Technology to bring you comprehensive yet easy-to-understand courses with a twist of immersion and excitement.

Vasilios Moutafis

Academic Teacher

Vasilios is a Games Lecturer, Games Developer and Co-Director at Toybox Games Studios. Vasilios is the lead technical artist, senior animator and combat programmer on the Primordials Legends franchise, helping bring the world of Eridal to life. His 5 years as a higher education lecturer have led him to train 100s of students to succeed. Both games and animation have always been his core passion in life leading him to pursue his career as both a Game Developer and Games Lecturer.

Roshan

Roshan Weerasuriya

Academic Teacher

Roshan is a senior lecturer in IT, and subject coordinator for AIT’s Bachelor of IT courses, which cover both games programming and mobile app development.
Roshan teaches Java Programming, Digital Project Management, Discrete Mathematics, Foundation Networks, Mobile Apps Android, Enterprise Systems, Introduction to Web, C++, Database Systems, Mobile Apps iOS, and Advanced Studio.

 

Nik

Nik Sutila

Academic Teacher / Subject Coordinator

Nik is our senior 2D Animation lecturer and has been teaching at AIT for over 10 years. Involved in artist communities surrounding illustration, comics, animation, toy making and game development, Nik's number one belief is to build students up to be the artists they want to be. He has trained graduates that have gone onto work at different animation studios in Australia such as Flying Bark, Cheeky Little Media and others. Nik holds a Masters degree in animation and has a very strong focus on motivating students, unlocking creativity and student well-being.

Kriss

Kriss Mahatumaratana

Subject Coordinator

Kriss has been a technology geek since 1996, after completing the Bachelor of Computer Engineering. The variety of project implementation and development during working in industry helped him develop broad knowledge over both hardware and software. He started to share his knowledge and expertise with others in 2001 by becoming an independent IT strategic planning trainer for many companies. He completed a Master of IT Software Engineering and became a Certified Professional (CP) member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Kriss completed the second Master of IT for research preparation and became a full-time Academic in 2012, and he still provides consultation for small businesses on Technology and Security in his free time

Vivian

Vivian Hormiz

Academic Teacher / Subject Coordinator

Vivian Hormiz has been teaching IT since 2014, she has taught different subjects across different universities and institutes including RMIT university, Swinburne university and Charles Sturt university; she taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has a Masters’ degree in Technology (IT) major in Internet and Web Computing, a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and a Diploma in Web development; she also has Cert 4 in TAE. Vivian has worked in the IT industry as an Application Developer in the telecommunication industry for many years; but her passion was always for teaching, so she left the industry and decided to become a teacher. She is a member of the Australian Computer Society.

Jenny Pringle

Academic Teacher

Jenny Pringle has been an Academic Teacher at AIT Melbourne since 2017, teaching both Bachelor of Interactive Media and Bachelor of Digital Design students a range of subjects.

Her career has spanned two continents and the fields of Mass Media, MarComms, the Arts, and Higher Education. With strengths in media theory, design theory, visual arts and writing, she is passionate about encouraging and supporting students to develop their curiosity, knowledge and skills, as well as their ability to apply these in both the academic and professional worlds.

Adam Moder

Academic Teacher / Subject Coordinator (3D Art and Animation)

Adam Moder has enjoyed over 20 years as a 3D artist and animator, working in television, interactive media and game development. He has accumulated generalist 3D skills encompassing design, modelling, surfacing, rigging and animation, with production credits including "The Silver Brumby" and "Ocean Girl" animated TV series, and games such as "Spongebob Squarepants - The Yellow Avenger", "Cars - Maternational" and "Unreal 2 - The Awakening". Adam currently freelances as a 3D Animator and has created VR and AR content for clients such as Google Creative Labs and the Melbourne Museum. He initially studied Physics and Maths towards a BSc at Monash before moving into Creative Arts. He has a Cert 4 in TAE and Advanced Diplomas in Performance and Creature Animation from Animation Mentor, as well as several years teaching experience. Adam is a passionate teacher and seeks to inspire students to embrace careers in this fascinating field of study.

Julieta Ormeno

Subject Coordinator

Julieta Ormeno joined the Design Faculty as a Senior Lecturer having taught extensively at both the University of Sydney and The College, Western Sydney University after completing a Bachelor Degree in Art Education at UNSW Art & Design. Her main interests lie in creative problem-solving in education, integrating design thinking into curriculum development and exploring innovative pedagogies that heighten student experiences. Julieta is now a subject coordinator, providing support and guidance to both students and teachers. 

Prior to moving into academia she worked for numerous years in the publishing industry as a senior graphic designer and has extensive skills in branding, digital and print advertising, publication design, web design, and quality assurance for pre-press.

Student clubs

AIT has several interest based social clubs where students can meet up and discuss their passions with like-minded creatives. These clubs give students the opportunity to push their creative boundaries and workshop ideas for assignments and personal projects.

PAIS Peer Support Program

The Peer Assisted Improvement Scheme (PAIS) is a free service that links our new students to a senior student who can assist you with your studies. 

Sessions are available every week from week 2. 

Mon/Wed 5pm-8pm and Friday 9am-12pm
